Nature Air or Sansa - another luggage question
We are travelling to Costa Rica in February. Thanks to all the wonderful information here on this forum I have decided to do all the reservation myself despite it being our first visit.
The main part of our trip will be at BdeC. My other half is a very keen photographer - and that means luggage! I see that Nature Air offer a fare that gives you 40 pounds allowance each - for extra money of course. That would be great for us since we could manage with that allowance. I even may get to pack some clothes!
Sansa would be more convenient for us from an airport point of view - but as far as I can see they don't offer the option of a higher price for more luggage do they? Does anyone know?
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Sansa offers extra baggage at $1/lb but it's also considered stand by...so there is a chance it wouldn't make your flight, but that could happen with Nature Air as well. If cargo is at it's max weight they can put it on a later flight.

Call Sansa.. I think they charge for any lbs over 30 lbs... Also, on these small planes, there is no rule that says your luggage will go with you.. especially if you are over the limit. If the plane is full they will weigh you with your luggage. Before going to BdeC three years ago, I bought a light weight duffle(REI).. was able to fit everything... you don't need many clothes in CR and most places will do a bit of laundry for a fee. I flew on Nature Air, I think I checked 30 lbs and had a small pack. Don't even think about bringing a hair dryer!!! Have fun.

flysansa.com almost always works out cheaper better
due to the fact that u do not have to cab to/from
another airport...
Prefer NatureAie nicer planes and staff though...
onebag.com pack as light as you can insuremytrip.com
just in case cancels/delays due to weather not unheard of...
Happy Deciding,

Thanks everyone - really helpful comments. I think we will use nature air (now spending a night at a hotel relatively close to the right airport for nature air) and use the flex fare that has a 40 pound allowance (other fares have 30 or even 20 pounds) but we will pack carefully so if something needs to go on a later flight we are prepared. I know that means the cameras and lenses will get priority and clothes can follow later............
Or else my lightweight husband (145 pounds) wears a big jacket with deep pockets full of lenses (only joking).
Don't worry - the hairdryer had never been on my packing list!
