Los Notros??
This will be our first visit to Argentina. We are planning to go to Los Notros. After reading this forum, it seems like it is worth the splurge. Would you stay there 2 nights or 3? What category of room would you book...is the La Cascada (basic) category ok? Is there any room in particular that is better than others? Has anyone got discounted rates on Los Notros other than what is published on their web sites?

We just spend three nights at Los Notros ..and was the highlight of many highlights on a two week vacation. Perito Moreno riveled the Grand Canyon for me in pure natural majesty -- couldn't get enough of it. One day hiking on glacier and doing the viewing platforms. We did Upsala Explorer boat trip with horse back riding at Estancia Christina -- highly recommended (but you don't need to use Los Notros as a base for Upsala -- actually drove back out of the park to Largo Argentina). There may be slight differences in the rooms...but you wind up spending a good deal of time in the main lodge. You can see the potential onslaught coming -- paving roads, a building boom in El Califate -- take it in while you can. If you can afford it, worth the splurge -- purely for the setting. We did have good weather during our stay -- which is always a wild card.

When did you go? How is the weather in Dec? Would you spend 2 nights or 3 at Los Notros? Who did you make your reservations through? Did you pay rack rates that they have published on their web site??

We stayed the last 3 days of December and booked this leg of our trip through Cintia at WOW Argentina in BA. The weather was chilly..upper 30's to upper 50's (just depends on amount of wind and sun). The Upsala boat and horse back rides definitely required winter hats, gloves and layers (and we were luckly with good weather; on the morning of our departure, it was raining!!). Regarding nights, you can do it in two nights -- with one full day of activity on the glacier, etc. If I remember correctly, you can do the Los Notros's boat trip on the morning of your departure if leaving after Noon time ..if you're looking to just take it in and have a down day (and increase odds of good weather), add another day. Again, Upsala can be organized through Los Notros or travel agent (which we did) ...because it's a full day excursion to another glacier, you're not necesarily taking full advantage of Los Notros..but transferring hotels is a hassle??? All decisions! Good luck...
