Los Cusingos/A. Skutch
I am trying to find info on the late Alexander Skutch's homestead. I wonder if it's accessible by means of tours and so on.I appreciate any bits of info you might have. Thanx! Cheri

I am pretty sure i just read it was closed for a few months to the public. I believe it is Richard Garrigues who writes a birding newsletter and i believe that was in it. If you do a search it should come up!

Thanx flycatcher06. About 3 wks ago I emailed R.Garrigues as directed in his newsletter, but haven't heard from him.I hope to. He advertised being a guide and it sounded pretty great to me.Time will tell. Maybe I'll try again. In the meantime I will stay engrossed in Skutch's books!

Hi,
You should know that the area around Skutch's farm is a very degraded habitat compared to when he first moved there.
It is an interesting spot to visit from a historical perspective but not noteworthy if you are interested in finding abundant or unusual birds there.
Skutch truly was a fine writer -a true 'naturalist'. I have read and re-read him many times and every reading is a delight.
cheers
Jerry
