La Fortuna waterfalls or bridges

Hi, our family will be staying overnight in Arenal next month. We won't have time for everything and are planning to do one of the canopy tours. Does anyone have an opinion on the one offered at the Arenal Paraiso vs the Sky Trek one? We were also thinking of doing the canyoning trip down the waterfalls with sky trek or perhaps the suspension bridges. Has anyone done either of these? Thanks!

Don't miss the waterfall! Be prepared for a bit of a hike down a steep trail and bring your swimsuits. Its the best!

dncee-thanks! The waterfall looks beautiful. Should we spend the money to do the Pure Trek rappel down the side of the waterfall, or just hike down ourselves?

Shelley,
I would question whether the waterfall that Skytrek takes you to for rappelling is the famous La Fortuna waterfall. Three reasons for this: The waterfall pictured on the Skytrek Arenal website is a different waterfall than the La Fortuna; I can't imagine that rappelling would be allowed at the Fortuna waterfall (I know people rappelling would be the last thing I would want in my pictures after I hiked all the way down there); and lastly, the La Fortuna waterfall isn't really set up in a way that would make rappelling safe - there is a considerable space between the waterfall and the cliff behind it, plus the force of the water on the way down and in the pool below would be dangerous.
Just my thoughts, but I would check into it if I were you. The La Fortuna waterfall would be a shame to miss!

I agree - the La Fortuna Waterfall is beautiful. Probably my favorite waterfall. It would be a shame to see people rapelling down.

Thanks for all of your input! We'll plan on hiking down to the falls. It doesn't sound like we'd want to miss it.
