June, July or August

I'm just beginning to research a trip to Costa Rica for our family of 5. Since we will probably only be able to go in the summer, could you offer some input as to what we should expect for weather. Is it too rainy in June, July and August or will we still be able to enjoy our vacation? Thanks!

While you can expect some rain during the summer months (it is the "green" season) it will probably not upset your plans. The rain usually falls in late afternoon or evening and is the warm, showery kind although the tropical downpour is possible. There is really no bad time to visit CR.

Last post is what I experienced 2 years ago in July. Out of 7 days, it rained the first night for about 2 hours. Torrential rain, but that was it. Rest of the time was sunny and beautiful. have fun.

We were there last August. The only time it rained in the am was the morning of our zipline tour. It cleared up in about an hour. It rained some afternoons, but none of it interfered with our great vacation.

We planned all of our activities in the morning. We then ate lunch and relaxed by the pool in the afternoons. If it rained in the aft., we headed back to the room for a little siesta and shower to get ready for dinner. If was a perfect mix of activity and relaxation for us.

We have gone to CR 3 times and all of our trips were in August. I totally concur with prior posters. Expect some passing rain but it will not interfere with your vacation. CR is beautiful during the green season - everything is very lush and REALLY GREEN. Enjoy!
