Is hepatitis A vaccine necessary for Cancun area?

We haven't been to Mexico for several years and are looking forward to visiting Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen this June. I know a few years back, it was recommended to have a Hepatitis A vaccine if you ate a lot of shellfish or seafood. Does anyone know if it is necessary? We eat a lot of seafood, although never got sick in the past. Thanks for your help!

According to CDC, http://www.cdc.gov/travel/camerica.htm, immunization is recommended. Whether it is necessary or not, it is a good idea. Of course, HepA can occur anywhere, and there was an outbreak in Pennsylvania a few years ago.

Most definitely, it is a good idea to get immunized against Hep A. It is quite common in Mexico.
