hurricane damage? is it worth going to PV next week?

We are scheduled to be in PV/NV next week. I've never been & am worried about vacationing there.

Should we go elsewhere (other choices include Mazatlan, Cabo & Cancun)?

Thank you!

There's lots of information on the internet about current situation in Puerto Vallarta. There are slide shows showing how quickly Puerto Vallarta is getting cleaned up. Although I personally have been following the downtown, El Centro, Old Town areas, not about the resorts out in Nuevo Vallarta.

http://www.puertovallarta.net/bulletinboard/UltraBoard.cgi

http://pub69.ezboard.com/btodopuertovallarta

http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/th...p;Start=mexico (use the search function for puerto vallarta and/or hurricane kenna)

we were supposed to go the day kenna hit. we changed our trip to cabo and when i got home received word from pvr that our timeshare was going to be closed for 4 weeks for clean-up. i would not go right now as the town will not be in a very festive and cheerful setting as it usually is. i don't recommend cabo as it is as expensive as san diego and just as americanized...big dissappointment. cozumel or mazatlan might be better choices.

Most everywhere in town is just the same as before Kenna. 12 hotels are closed between town and the Marine Terminal. The Marina area hotels are all open as they were hardly damaged at all. The same goes for Nuevo Vallarta.
Most of the businesses on the Malecón are open as repairs continue.

Yes, Sue, Camino Real is open and running as normal. Excursions and water taxis running.

Keep your plans for Puerto Vallarta*!*

Check with your specific hotel because a few (but mostly places located in the Hotel Zone) are under repair. But most (in Nuevo Vallarta, The Marina, southside of town) are open and doing just fine.

The other 3 towns are no comparison to the beauty and atmosphere of Puerto Vallarta... hurricane or no (IMHO).
