hotels in PDC and isla mujeres (with kids)

Could someone recommend hotels in PDC and isla mujeres? We are a family with young kids. I prefer not to do AIs. Are Tierra Maya, Caribe maya, Quinto Sol good options in PDC? I am stuck on where in Isla Mujeres.

Thankyou

I've never stayed there, but I'd look at Nautibeach Condos for Isla. Great location, nice pool, more room than a regular hotel room.

Thankyou. The price at Nautibeach seemed a little high, about $175 off-season, but maybe that is a reasonable choice.

In PDC, Playa Maya is good if you want to be right on the beach. For a quieter, slightly less expensive spot a few hundred feet from the beach, the Treetops is very nice. The rooms are large, simple and clean, and many have a balcony that overlooks the jungle like courtyard and mini pool.

Thankyou. I will look in to treetops. WE do not need to be on the beach. We may just go to Xcaret for the day, although I have heard extremely mixed reviews about it.

There are a lot of condo options in PDC. I just booked Xaman Ha for my family. It's known to be very family friendly, it has it's own pool, is on the beach and best of all, is a very short walk (5 min.) to 5th Av PDC.

Susad - I saw your comment about Xcaret. Have you ever been to Xel-Ha or have you seen anything about it?

It is a GREAT way to spend the day and we make it a point to get there every time we go down to the Mayan Riviera.

In Isla Mujeres, on the beach with children, I recommend Posada del Mar, www.posadadelmar.com, priced at $52 after April 16th. A real bargain, and just across the street from the beach and very near downtown for walking to restautants. Nice pool for kids, also.

You might want to consider a suite with a kitchenette, and I would recommend Suites Los Arcos, www.lostoasis.net/losarcos.htm, a block walk to the beach, and in the downtown area.

Directly on the beach, I recommend Cabanas Maria Del Mar, www.cabanasdelmar.com, in the tower section, on the first floor because it offers a nice place to sit out in front of your room, and a little area for small children to play, or in the Cabana section, near the pool. It is located directly on the beach and rates for April are $99, dropping to $66 on May 1st. Breakfast of juice, coffee and toast is included. Chair rentals with umbrellas are located directly on the beach in front of the hotel, and there is a great beach bar/restaurant with waiters that serve you on the beach.

Have a grand trip.

A new one in Playa called Luna Blue is getting good reviews on tripadvisor and is very reasonably priced, close to Mamitas Beach in the north end.
They also have kitchen suites that look roomy for a family.

Luna Blue in PDC IS great. I stayed there myself last month however, I'm not sure I'd recommend it for young kids. When my kids were young some kind of pool would have been necessary and they don't have one. Other than that, it might fit your bill. Very quiet and secure, clean rooms and great staff.

La Tortuga has a really neat moat type pool, the rooms are great and the location is also very nice. I've also stayed there and IMO, might be better suited to kids.

My family and I stayed at the Alhambra, right on the beach, after hopping around to several unsatisfactory hotels. We couldn't have found a cleaner, quieter and more serene place. Breakfast is included and it will keep you going until nighttime!

I echo earlier comments that Xel-ha was great.

Enjoy!

We recommend www.vistacaribe.com
for PDC.
This hotel has a great location 1/2
block to the beach or 5th av.

They have JR suites and two bedroom
one bath units. Prices are reasonable
and negotiable.

We think it is the best deal in PDC
