Hotels in Isla Mujeres

We're going to Isla Mujeres with a large family group, and we can either stay wherever they all decide to stay or somewhere else.
We're a 30+ couple/no kids.
Not sure what they're all looking for, but our ideal would have:
- nice rooms with a/c and, ideally, tv
- bar on premises or close by
- relaxing environment
My guess is we'd have easy access to the beach and beach activities from just about anywhere on the island.
Does NOT need to be large or resorty.
Anyone stay anywhere they love? Oh, and ideally we'd be closer to $100/night than $200/night.
Thanks!

Sounds to me like you want to be at the Hotel Media Luna. It's smaller, but modern, located close to the big Avalon Reef Club. Prices definitely closer to that $100 mark that you're after...

Check it out...

We were in Isla five years ago and we stayed at the Cabanas del Mar. If modern is what you are looking for - I would definitely stay at Media Luna. Cabanas del Mar (which we liked - and the location couldn't be beat) was very rustic and there were no TV's in the rooms then - there may be now. The Media Luna had just opened the year we were there - we walked over to take a look and decided that if we ever head back to Isla - we would stay there. Just remember that it is not located on a "swimable beach" but it is only a short walk to Playa Norte and the views from the balconies are awesome!

Have a great time.
