Planning a last minute trip in August. Hoping to avoid a hurricane, but rolling the dice. So, we decided on Mexico instead of an island. We are choosing between 5 nights at either the Mandarin Oriental or Paraiso de Bonita. Any comments on either hotel? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

Just so you are aware, they are not actually in the town of Playa del Carmen but outside a bit. But, both look lovely.

Haven't stayed at either, but would choose the Mandarin if I had the choice, although they both look fantastic.
My only concern with Paraiso may be the beach quality. You might want to check into that if you care about which has the better beach.
