hotels/b&b's in Morelia and Patzcuaro
Hello,
I am planning in going to Morelia and Patzcuaro in early December for about 6 nights. How many days in each city? I was thinking 3 days in ea. city. Can someone recommend some hotels or b&b's? I will be traveling alone.

I personally would do 2 in Morelia & 4 in Patzcuaro with a side trip to Tingambato (Archaeological site) & Uruapan (Marvelous National Park with Waterfalls, sculptures, rapids, flora & Fauna).
Hotels: The Cathedral a Best Western property at about $78 US in Morelia on the main Plaza. In Patzcuaro I highly recommend the Meson de San Antonio. In a old Mansion many rooms with fireplaces for around 600 Pesos. A second choice is The Posada San Rafael at about 400 pesos. Good but not great secure hotel with parking. On the main Plaza. I often go to the area so write me with any questions.
PS Morelia has probably the nicest Zoo in Mexico if you have interest.

We enjoyed a 4X3 deal with amazing breakfasts and free parking at Hot Mision Iturbe on the square.
The many pueblos around the lake are worth visiting - especially Tocuaro (masks); Capula (catrinas, punticuasmo pottery); Sta. Clara del Cobre (copper).
Don't miss Rest Cha Cha Cha - perhaps the best in all of Michoacan.

I just returned from my visit. Meson de San Antonio in Patzcuaro was great.
I really loved Morelia and thought there was a lot to do and see in the main town.
I would recommend the 3/3 with at one or 1&1/2 day in Patzcuaro of doing the smaller villages.
Is the Hotel Cathedral really a BW. Next to Hotel Cathedral, is a BW Casino hotel. I didn't stay at either but ate breakfast at the Cathedral hotel.

The Hotel deLa Soledad in Morelia is definitely my favorite. The hotel is on a side street from the main square. The hotel is an old mansion with two lovely patios and the rooms are tastefully decorated. The staff is very pleasant and attentive to your needs. Morelia is a beautiful colonial city to visit. Patzcuaro is enchanting and magical. The main square is beautiful and there are several hotels around the plaza. The side trips mentioned in the previous postings are definitely a must. And do not forget to visit the island of Janitzio. The boat trip do the island on a weekend is great. You get to mingle with the Mexican families visiting from the surrounding cities.
