Honeymoon in mid-September?

Hello!
My fiancé and I are looking to honeymoon for approximately 5 nights/6 days. We have very little requirements:
Beach destination - (not overly crowded)
Good weather - (mid 80's or above, not too humid)
Safe
Somewhat affordable - our budget is roughly $3k for lodging/food/activities. Airfare separate.
Low key/laid back/relaxing

We are looking to enjoy some kid-free time (which we never get!) and would like to stay away from crowded resorts or places with wild nightlife. We really would just like to relax on a beach with books. I know we are dorks. lol

We have been tossing around: Mexico, Carribean. We are open to suggestions/ideas.

Any advice/tips/do's and don'ts would be greatly appreciated.

We thank you in advance.

Mid September for Mexico/Caribbean beach locations are the hottest and most humid time. Plus it is hurricane season. That is why there are a such great deals that time of year.

Also depends on where you are coming from. You would want direct flights. Wouldn't want your whole first and last days to be spent traveling.

The weather in September is going to be a bit iffy in all the places you are considering. You need to take that into consideration.

Maybe Tulum would work for you, not crowded, 5 miles of beaches or more.
Or possibly Isla Mujeres if interested in swimming with the whale sharks (season ends Sep. 15). Tons of restaurants.

The Mexican Caribbean would meet all your needs except for low humidity. I've heard from the locals that August and September can be stifling. If you are still interested, go to the locogringo.com website for lots of info.

We like Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, but I'd expect to encounter rain in September.
