Hiking to La Fortuna waterfall?

About how long would you allow to hike there, maybe take a dip and hike out?

I need to know how and where to fit this in the schedule, thanks!

My husband and I did this last year, we are early thirties and I run regularly...the descent down is not bad...the way up is a different story. I would allow at least an hour or two if you plan on swimming when you get there...which we did. It was refreshing since you have quite a hike back up.

Is there a way to get there (to the parking lot)if you don't have a car?

Thanks Island girl!

mlw, from what I understand it's not far from town at all, maybe less than half a mile...but I don't know.

Can anyone help?

It isn't far, but still a bit of a walk. I'm guessing a taxi would be very inexpensive. You might be glad once you climb back up! We didn't swim, but I remember that climb and stopping to rest a time or two.

We took a taxi from our hotel. I didn't take us very long to hike down and back. You can definelty do it in two hours including swimming time. While we were there a 80 year old woman hiked down and back. She just took her time and didn't seem to have any problems.
We didn't have any trouble getting a ride back.

Maybe 6 km, but surely not miles.
