help with PDC !!!!!!!!

My husband and I planning much needed getaway. We love mexico but never been to Playa Del Carmen. I generally don't like AI but trying to figure biggest-bang-for-buck. Would be nice to be close to town, ferry, shops, restaurants but if AI's are much better deal???? Any suggestions for hotel, great place for price, location, big pool??

You should look into the Gran Porto Real. It offers both al and non al. Its the closest al in that area, just minutes from all the action. They have a nice beach and big pool. I know several people that booked the al for the breakfast, lunch and drinks and then ate most of their dinners at one of the many restaurants. If you would like more info. please e-mail me-but going for 14 years and can answer all questions about Playa(not real familiar with the als, just the Porto Real)

Do you need a taxi from this hotel to get to shopping, restaurants, etc.? Are children prevalent at this hotel? Is one floor recommended over another (we do want ocean front); what about the junior suite, is it lots better for a couple w/ daughter? Any info about hotel and PDC in general is helpful. TIA

If you want cheaper than porto real, try reef club...it's very close to town.

Brenda,<BR>I don't know if your asking about tons of kids at Gran Porto or the Reef Club. I don't know about Gran Porto, but stayed at the Reef Club in August last year and, yes, there were tons of kids. I did like the resort alot though and would consider it again for an inexpensive AI resort.
