Has anyone stayed at Peace Lodge with kids?

We are interested in staying at the Peace Lodge for a few nights with the kids, but do not want to stay in the Monarch Villa. Their website indicates that they can provide rollaways for children. Has anyone stayed in one of the 'regular' rooms with more than two people? Is it crowded with rollaways? Did the lodge charge an extra person charge - if so, how much?
Thanks!

We stayed in a standard and there was one sort of convertible bed type "thing" in the room. There would be enough room on either side of the king size bed to fit the additional rollaway and still be able to have room to easily walk to the balcony, around the fireplace area and to the bathroom. How old are your kids? For us, it would be fine, maybe a little crowded, but not bad. We didn't have extras so I'm not sure what the extra charge is. However, I guess they're not including breakfast in the rates anymore, which is a bummer. We did save on dinner costs by eating at the Trout Bar and ala carte in our room for dinner rather than the set price in the restaurant.

We stayed in a deluxe one night and Monarch Villa one night (as an upgrade due to a mistake, not ours). In the deluxe there was plenty of room for a rollaway. We didn't even go upstairs at Monarch Villa except to further ooh and aah.

Have fun--terrific rooms!

We had two children with us.

It made the room a bit tight but it was not too uncomfortable. We were not in our room much except for sleep.

Thanks everyone. The kids are both teenagers, so they would each need a rollaway bed. Sounds like we might need the deluxe instead of standard to fit 2 rollaways.

wego-which type of room did you have, and did you have 2 rollaways? Do you remember if they charged you an additional room fee?

We stayed in a Deluxe room and my opinion is with two teenagers, it's going to be crowded for you. If you possibly can get the Monarch Villa - I'd try to do it. The Peace Lodge is such a relaxing place and so much of it is the ambiance of the rooms I'd hate to have it ruined by being overcrowded. Not only do you have two more people, but twice the luggage, twice the clothing etc... I don't know that the deluxe rooms are bigger than the standard. I thought they just had a different bathroom and were the upper floor.

We're going back this year with our kids, who are still small (7 and 9) and decided that would be our splurge and we opted for the Monarch Villa. We're only staying for one night though, so it's not too outrageous!

I'm sure if their web site doesn't mention an extra charge per person, if you email them, they'll tell you the exact charge if you decide to go with the roll away beds.

We stayed in the standard room, and I think 4 people in there would have been too cozy for us.

I won't swear by it, or maybe I will lol, but I've stayed in both deluxe & standard and I'm almost positive (and that I was told this by the porter) that they were exactly the same size - the only difference was the bathroom. The deluxe bathroom was much, much bigger but they won't be sleeping in there though!

Here are some pics - the ones near the start are of the deluxe & deluxe bathrooms, the ones near the end are of the standard bathroom only, no room pics as it was identical - http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...=0&y=npgas

You shoud be able have one kid sleep on the daybed by the window (visible in some of the pics) and another where the rocking sofa is in front of the fire.

tully-Thanks for the great pics of the rooms, that helps a lot! I expected the room sizes to be quite different because the website states that the deluxe is 800 sq ft and the standard is 650 sq ft. But, it looks like all the extra square feet might be in the bathroom!!

We just returned from Peace Lodge (I want to go back!)and stayed in a standard room with our two teens. The two cots were set up on the sides of the fireplace and really weren't a problem. In fact, we felt like we were staying in a small lodge rather than a hotel room. We didn't feel crowded. They did, however, charge a hefty fee for the 'kids' - anyone over 12 is $40 per day. This covered admission to the grounds and breakfast. (Yes - I talked my way into getting the breakfast since it was included when I booked the hotel.) Starting in 2008, however, breakfast isn't included any longer.

That really chaps me--that no breakfast change. And I'm in the process of booking a room for August. $40 per day per person is WAY too high. Most hotels charge about $20. Guess they don't consider themselves "most hotels"! And they aren't. But still. . .whew!
