Frozen drinks

Any problem with having a frozen drink in Mexico? Some coworkers have suggested staying away from frozen drinks and sticking to beer.

Why? Because of the water? I go to the Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen once or twice a year ... and consume MANY frozen drinks! I've never once been sick. Not sure if that's your concern, or where you're going ...

If you eat and drink in moderate to upscale restaurants, you should not have a problem.
Do not eat street food in MX.

Stewbear,
Perhaps you are the Typhoid Mary of the 21st century, lol.
I have horrendous (genetic) diverticulosis and cannot risk food/water illness.

I can only speak to Puerto Vallarta, but am guessing this is true at other tourist destinations and resorts.

Restaurants and bars buy ice from the purified water company, it is delivered by a truck, in bags... no one is making ice cubes from tap water!

I'm gonna take a wild guess that your coworkers have not been in Mexico recently themselves?

I am slowly making my way through central america. I spend a lot of time in Costa Rica. When living in Texas I made a lot of trips to Mexico. So far Mexico is the only place I have had any problems with the water. It seems like, no matter how hard I try, I always end up with problems down there-even when staying at high end places. I suppose if I just stayed at the hotel and didn't venture out I would not have trouble but then why travel.

Use your head and stick to beer and coke if there is any question. Believe me, those frozen drinks aren't worth the consequences.

My daughter ended up with terrible problems after eating food from a street vendor in Cozumel. You just never know.

It's always better to be safe than sorry. There is a difference between consuming cooked food that generally kills the bacteria and uncooked food and drinks w/ice. I would stick to the better places that always have purified water and ice.
