For all that love Mexico...where alse do you vacation?
My husband and I have been to Mexico many times and love it. We love everything about Mexico: the friendly people , the food, the beaches, the activities and the abundance of charming/unique places to stay.
We are thinking that for our next trip (10th anniversary vacation) maybe we should try somewhere different.
Where else have you been to that you love just as much as Mexico?

Can it be in Europe? If so, FRANCE FRANCE and more FRANCE! The part of Mexico I love is the colonial towns (Oaxaca, Puebla, Merida). And if you're looking for that kind of old world charm, architecture, culture, etc., I'd go to France.

Definitely Costa Rica! It's so beautiful, with warm, friendly people and SO much to do!!! The beaches might not be as nice, but the rainforests, mountains, volcanos, national parks, plus the flora and fauna help to create a very unique and memorable vacation.
Also, thrilling ziplines over the forest canopies, rappelling, hot springs, big ocean waves.........Ahhhh!

I've also been to Mexico many times and love it, in fact, we're going again in March. Like Guy18, I love the colonial towns of Mexico, but I also enjoy a few days on a beach.
We've also been to Australia twice to visit family, with a stopover the last time in Hong Kong, which I absolutely loved.
We've also been to Turkey twice. First trip was just a week, second trip was only last September and we were there for 3 weeks. We both loved it. Loads of history, friendly people, reasonable prices, great carpets .......... Also been to Greece twice - back in 1976 and again in 2000.
I'm planning a trip to Paris in September and looking forward to that. (My last trip to France was in 1978.)
We've been to Costa Rica twice, but that was back in the early 90's. I think there are a lot more tourists visiting there now, so it might not be as appealing to me as it was.
Seems like these destinations don't have a lot in common!
I guess some of it depends on when you're planning to travel. Mexico is perfect for us in the winter, whereas Turkey was wonderful for September. You know, at one point, I wrote a list of the top 10 places I'd like to visit - actually it was more like 13 places. Some were just weekend type trips, others were more extensive. The list constantly changes as I hear about other places I want to visit.
I guess I haven't really answered your question.

Depends, what would like to do?
Warm beaches, but some interesting places too? How far? Costa Rica is great about nature, beaches, people. More quiet than Mexico. Cuba is good too if you are allowed to go. Carribean beaches are the best, you can find there history too.
If you haven't been in Europe, go there.
Provence,or Spain or Portugal.
We loved New Zealand and the South Pacific too.
We regret only the trips we didn't take!

A friend of mine who lives in Mexico has asked many Mexicans where they like to go. The overwhelming favorite was Italy. They felt they understood one another. Be that as it may, if you enjoy the archaeological treasures of Mexico, you'll be stunned by Italy.

Before retiring to San Miguel de Allende, Gto., we looked for years in the US, PT, SP, CR, and even Panama.
Baiona, Galicia, Spain was a close second.
Mexico has so much diversity, more than the US, so we do travel here: Thanksgiving in Patzcuaro, Michoacan; Christmas at Barra de Navidad, Jalisco
That said, we are going to China in the spring, Budabest in the summer and BA just around Chistmas.

We go to Mexico every winter and love it. We've been going for 13 years. Our second favorite love is Provence, France. Staying in B&Bs and eating in amazing little restaurants was wonderful. The people are genuinly warm and caring.

We live in California's Bay Area and adore California, specifically, Zihua, la Costa Alegre, Todos Santos, Cabo, etc. We're there at least twice a year. When we have more time, however, we love the Caribbean, particularly Turks & Caicos, Anguilla, Harbour Island/Bahamas, etc.

Thanks for all the inspiring suggestions. Europe is probally too far to travel for this trip, since we will only have 4-5 nights. I was also thinking about about Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Jamaica or Hawaii. I guess I have more to think about.....

I would have said a lot about Germany and its Castles, but since you can't go to Europe I second Las Vegas. The O Show, Mystere and any Cirque d Soleil shows are wonderful entertainment. There is a lot to see that is free and its kind of fun to be around all the glitter and splender once in a great while. Try the Venetian to feel like King and Queen. They often will have internet specials for their fabulous rooms. Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary.
