Feb 2003 airfare LA to Cancun

I am planning a trip for my husbands 60th birthday. We are timeshare owners and have our 12 nts already reserved at the new Fiesta Americana Cancun/Hilton timeshare. I have found nonstop LAX to CUN on Travelocity (United) for $567pp. While I'm sure there are cheaper fares, I want nonstop to avoid stress & hassle on this special occasion. Is this a good rate, all considered? I know this is a High Season time of year. Should I go ahead & book?
Thanks in advance, I know there are many Mexico/Cancun experts out there! Becky

Betty, I would go for it. However, go to the United website and buy directly from them or call United. The future of the internet companies is very shaky lately and if things go bad you will have a hard time to deal with any internet company. Belive me I been there and still (almost two years) waiting for my money. Also if you have to change your plans (you have more than 9 months so things may happen, you may win lottery and would like to fly business class) it is much easier to deal directly with a specific airlines.

Betty, could you share your experience with us concerning dealing with airfare over the internet. Many of us are looking for more economical ways to travel and everyone is telling me the internet is the way to go.

Hi Becky:

I am a travel agent and I'm looking at published fares of $540 on United, and $550 on Mexicana (including taxes). Of course, this all depends on availability for the days you need.
Hope this helps, and let me know if I can help you!

Enrique

Becky,

I think you are buying you tickets way too far in advance. Prices are best exactaly 30 days before departure. Use travelocity's website and click the button "find best fares". You can usually find fares in the $350-450 range.

Another thing, are you sure those flights are non-stop. Usually United has a stop in Mexico City or Miami.

Actually the flight is Operated by Mexicana, United Code shares on it.
With United's Problems I would buy it with Mexicana.
I too would wait awhile, sale fares may appear late this year or early next year.
Also check with an Agent, many of us have Tricks that can save $$ on Air Tickets.
