Royal Hideaway Playacar

I'm trying to plan my honeymoon (in November) - and we're looking at the Cancun/Playa Del Carmen area.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an all-inclusive resort? Royal Hideway, RIU etc? Any information is appreciated ... I'm a little bit nervous about choosing a resort just based on it's web site.

I haven't stayed at the Royal Hideaway but I understand from other comments that it's an outstanding hotel. Please check resort reviews at these websites:
www.cancunandrivieramaya.com
www.c aribbeanopinion.com
www.debbiescaribbeanresortr eviews.com
I would avoid Cancun itself unless you want a Las Vegas on the ocean type place. It's concrete hotel after concrete hotel after concrete hotel...not my idea of paradise. Other resorts I can recommend include the RIU Palace, Iberostar Paraiso, Barcelo Maya Beach resort. Each offers different things so read reviews and decide what's important to you.

Absolutely Royal Hideaway! Went in April, do a search for my comments. We were pleasantly surprised by how fabulous the food is and it is my understanding that all the other all-inclusives are primarily buffet -- at RH you get 5 course dinners off a large menu with a selection of four different restaurants. One word of warning though, they have very few oceanview rooms so if that is important to you make sure you pay for the luxury oceanview or you will not get one. In our opinion that was just about the only negative on the property.

Which restaurants at RH did you enjoy the most. Was it difficult making reservations at the restaurants?

Thanks.

We liked the Asian restaurant the best, but they were all good. We stayed only 3 nights so yes, we did have some difficulty getting reservations because we didn't make any beforehand and when we got there it seems all they had was 6:00 and 9:30 available. If you go for a week this will be less of a problem, but definitely make reservations for the first few nights in advance.
