Family vacation-Mexico

Im trying to plan our mexican vacation. I have a 6 yr old daughter and it is our first time to go to Mexico. Is cancun the best place to go? Which hotel is the most family friendly?
Thanks!

Our family has been going to Cancun for many years. We are members of the timeshare, Royal Sands, of the Royal Resorts. Nonmembers can rent villas --the first time we went we got a deal from the Entertainment Book. Each villa is 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a full kitchen, living/dining room. The resorts are very family friendly with free planned activities for all ages, and arts/crafts activities at nominal cost. The resorts deny "Spring Breakers" and are very quiet and safe. Children and adult pools, restaurants, grocery store on premises, even a doctor's office for emergencies! Lots of multi-generation families. No pressure to buy a timeshare, however, we happen to love it there and as previously stated, we bought. No regrets!! It is our Mexican home! Check out their website: www.royalresorts.com. Cancun has a reputation for being a teen party place, and if that's what you're looking for, well, you can find it there. Not at the Royal Resorts, however.

Also, I forgot to add, check out the ratings on the tripadvisor website. The Royal Resorts always get great reviews.

I would look at the playa del carmen resorts. They are several and most are family friendly with lots of activities and supervision for children. Some are the Iberostar's, Gala, and Barcelo. There are several others as well.

Avoid the beaches and the US "trash".
The Colonial mountain pueblos will make a huge difference in your and your childrens' lives.
