Fabulous hotels in Sao Paolo

I am going to SP for work in a few weeks and to research the city for launching a new brand so I would like to stay somewhere hip and happening. Has anyone stayed somewhere great recently? thanks!

We are planning to visit in Sao Paulo in August and are trying to decide where to stay. We'd like to be near the Jardin area and in proximity to shops/restaurants/metro. We've looked at the website of Sofitel and Intercontinental. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? Are they well located and luxurious? Any other tope-end hotels in that area to consider instead?

I agree with some of the other posts...Hotel Unique is as hip and happening as it gets in Sao Paulo. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms comfortable (and cool) and the service is great.

Thanks for the suggestion of the Hotel Unique. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Emiliano or the Hotel Fasano -- both are boutique hotels in the Jardin area from what we've read. Any comments on them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fasano is more "classic" and Emiliano more "cool".Depends on what yu're looking for.But I still prefer Unique.

geo007 - thanks for your input. We tend to prefer a bit more cushy/traditional rather than modernist/minimalist, so perhaps Fasano is a better bet for us. We're gathering that Unique and Emiliano are more the latter than former. Would that be a fair assessment?

For a better idea:Fasano has 64 rooms-35m2 and 45 m2-and 10 suites-from 75 to 120 m2.The furniture is more classic and serious, dark wood in the style of 1930.Unique has 85 rooms- 25m2 to 71m2 -and 10 suites-77m2 to 101m2.The furniture is more "clean".I'd say that Fasano is something like Ritz and Unique something like Costes Paris...Have a nice trip.Email me when you arrive to tell me which one you chose, and I'll tell you WHERE is the best wine bar or coffe place in SP.
