Doka Coffee Plantation

Has anyone had the lunch buffet at Doka Coffee Plantation? They offer a tour for $16, lunch buffet is included for an additonal $5. We were going to try Chubasco's but for $5 the buffet sounds pretty good!

Also - if you have been to Doka how did you like it?

Cathy
We went to Doka two years ago. We just drove up and no one was there...we ended up with our own private tour! (this was in April). I thought the tour was wonderful. We didn't have the lunch there but i would highly recommend the tour. The folks @ rosa finca blanca suggested we go there vs. cafe britt b/c it was less "commercial". Beautiful drive to get there, too. Have fun!

We've been a few times and think it is a great stop. Beautiful property, excellent tour. We've only done the tour once, but have enjoyed stopping, shopping, enjoying the views at other times. Haven't tried the lunch buffet and think Chubasco's is excellent. It's a pretty little restaurant. Either way, I'd say. . .have a great time!

CathyF - we thought Doka was super. We were there about 90 minutes and it was just the right blend of educational/enjoyable for the whole range of ages in our family.

Is Chubasco's on the way to Poas? And is Doka on the way to Poas as well? Years ago had breakfast at Siempre Verde, is that connected with Doka or near it?

tully,
if i'm remembering correctly, doka is on the way to poas. that's one of the reasons why we went there, because poas was "letting off some steam" last time we were there so we missed it yet again!

Yep, Tully--all on the way to Poas. Doka comes first, about 25 min. out of Alajuela, then Chubasco's up the road 15 min or so. I think the turn to La Paz is in between the Doka Estate and Chubasco's.

And we've eaten at Siempre Verde a couple of times as well. Great breakfast! Yes, it belongs to Doka. Sometime I'd like to spend a night there. We always have the hardest time finding it, though--the signage is confusing.

Yes, lol! It seemed like we drove thru a laze of coffee beans forever before come out at Siempre Verde. Nice breakfast there and I remember thinking how nice it would be to stay there. Still trying to decide the day trip!
