departing from SJO

On our return from SJO to New York, how early should we arrive at SJO if our departure time is 6:20 PM? We'll be flying Sansa from Quepos to SJO, and they have flights scheduled to leave Quepos at 12:15 PM and 2:20 PM. Is the 2:20 PM cutting it too close?

Thanks,
ACC

What time does the flight get in? I think technically they ask you to be there 3 hours before departure. Our Sansa flight was about an hour late picking us up - just something to keep in mind.

Seems more prudent to take the earlier flight as you can never predict ahead of time when and if the flights will run behind. If you find yourself with a couple of extra hours, catch a taxi over to Zoo Ave and grab that last bit of gusto in Costa Rica. It's an interesting bird/animal rehab place about 10 min from the airport. Good for 1.5 hour or so. Good luck!

Oops! I just rechecked the Sansa website, and the flight times are different. There's a 1:20 PM flight that gets into SJO at 1:50 PM; and there's a 2:59 PM flight that gets in at 3:29 PM. To have "cushion" time for our 6:20 PM flight back to JFK, we should probably take the 1:20 PM Sansa flight, right?

No guarantees with weather and flight delays, etc., but I think you'd be okay taking the later flight. I'd take it, but I'm a live on the edge kind of gal.

What I'd say and what I'd do are two different things I'd say take the earlier to be on the safe side, but I know if it was me I'd probably take the later flight. Doesn't help much does it ?

If I were you, I'd take the later flight.

I vote for the earlier flight. Sansa is a good airline, but they frequently run late. Sometimes you really do need most of the officially required three hours to check in for your international flight at SJO.

But that's me.
