Costa Rica map(s) and/or booklet(s)

Usually before going somewhere I request on a website to mail me a free map and/or travel booklet - anybody tried it for Costa Rica? Will they send to the US? Is the website VisitCostaRica, or some other site?

Try the great folks at www.crsurf.com. They are based in FL, but have terrific contacts and are very reliable.

I haven't seen free maps, but this is a site with good info, and they also have maps for sale if you'd like to buy one.

The site you mention - Visitcostarica.com is the site of the ICT - The Costa Rican Tourist Bureau.
On there there is a toll free number - 1 - 866 Costa Rica. So try it and see what they will send. They used to say on the website that they would send things. These days - so much is online so they are probably encouraging people to download things themselves - which can be a pain. There are sections for maps and brochures on the site.

When you arrive at SJO airport there is an ICT desk. In the past we have gotten a map of the country and other stuff there.

There's always the Fodor's guide to Costa Rica which I believe has a map inside, we bought this guide for our first trip there a few years ago. Many hotels also sell maps at the front desk, the laminated ones are the best.

Thank you. I wonder if AAA still has paper maps - know somebody who's a member.
