Chaa Creek: good jumping off for tours?
Hi folks,
My fiance and I are thinking about a 7- or 8-day honeymoon in Belize at the end of June. What I had in mind for the first few days:
Day 1: Arrive Belize City, transport to and overnight at Chaa Creek
Day 2: Day and overnight at Chaa Creek
Day 3: ATM tour, overnight at Chaa Creek
Day 4: Tikal tour and overnight at Tikal
Day 5: Transport to Ambergris or similar
My question is whether it's worth the money to spend the night at Chaa Creek if the better part of the day is out on an expedition. Also, for the CC-run Tikal tour, where is the overnight spent? Is this a good distribution of time in Cayo, or are there better options?
Thanks for any insights--

I think CC is one of the best lodges in the region-just voted so by Conde Naste readers. Flights between Belize and Guatemala have been canceled, but will resume and you can depart Chaa Creek, head to Tikal and then fly back into Belize and on to your next destination, Ambergris or similiar.

There are 3 hotels in the park at Tikal. Jungle Lodge is the most expensive. I've stayed at the other 2 and was pleased with both. I especially enjoyed the Tikal Inn last summer, large room by the pool, $75/double including dinner and breakfast (don't know if that's a low season rate). If the flights aren't back up and running you could bus straight through to Belize City on a Linea Dorada bus.
Congratulations and happy trails!!

I am planning at trip for late June as well. We are doing almost your exact itinerary! We are staying at DuPlooy's (very close to Chaa Creek) and doing ATM on our frist day there.
We are doing overnight at Tikal and staying at the Jungle Lodge. We got a great price for transfer, food, guide and lodging. If want the information for this just email me.
