Cancun and Playa del Carmen accommodation???
Hi there,
we will be staying in Cancun and Playa del Carmen in January.
We will be staying for a week and want to split the time between both places. This will be our first time to Mexico.
We would like modern, clean accommodation preferably with a balcony and view. It does not have to be inclusive.
We would like to be near the beach, shops and restaurants. We can pay approx $200 - 250 per night.
We are from Australia and want to relax, enjoy the sights, go to the beach and shop.
What hotels would your recommend to fit the biil.
Thanks in advance
Donna

In PdC, we LOVED Hotel Mimi del Mar. Right on the sand. Request the OceanFRONT room - huge balcony - gorgeous view. If you book directly with the hotel breakfast is included. Small kitchenette in the room - 2 Queen beds. It is a small hotel (18 rooms), very clean, great water pressure and good service. It is a SIMPLE hotel - very small pool - with an excellent location. It is next to Bad Boys Beach Club which has live music Thurs - Sun, but that stopped at about 8 pm and then things were quiet. Some of the other places on the beach are next to very loud bars / clubs that go way into the night /early morning.

We are leaving in 4 days for PDC -- taking kids, so we are staying in an AI - Sandos Playacar. If we did NOT have the kids with us it would have to be either Royal Playa del Carmen, or La Tortuga (with a swim up room)!! Check out www.playa.info and you can compare all of the hotels, AIs and condos there. Great site with a LOT of pictures. Check out the trip reports in the Forum - they all post pictures.

If you do decide to go all-inclusive, there's a new site called ResortCompete.com.
You pick your resort, then let agents compete to offer you the best deal. It's by the same people who do CruiseCompete.com, which has been around for a while...
