Cabo- Your thoughts

I'm traveling to Cabo for vacation. And wanted to just get some overall feelings about the destination. I'll be staying at the Playa Grande. Is that nice. Any information (positive or other) you can give would be helpful.

Can't speack for the hotel. If it has timeshare then go to frommers and read Mexican Timeshare Beware.

The town is a dump. A ramshackle of everything from pieces of a LA shopping Mall to dirty dumpy palapa hut restuartants. Seedy Dumpy Bars with strip joints a few feet away. Cabo is for the Addict. It is an addicts paradise. It is hookers, strippers and drugs and the sleaze it attracts. On weekends full of drunk tourists who consider spring break theme for adults fun. It is full of rip offs, flim flam and scam. Never believe a word a local tells you. Cabo is Bullshit.
Cabo is mile of dangerous beaches that people have drowned on, no signs warnin ya, and no lifeguards to save ya.

Cabo is overpriced and too close to the U.S.

Cabo is a desert with a beach you can't swim in, Tijuana with Cancun plus prices.
These days it is dangerous with Murder for Robbery on the Streets.

Cheri, don't believe a word Captain Mike says - either he's on 'something' or has never been to Cabo!!! I've been there (3) times and stayed at Pueblo Bonito. There's a great flea market across from grocery store downtown to die for. Be sure to visit The Office - hamburger place right on the beach. Di'Gorgio's for beautiful sunset picture and food. Beware though that hotels in San Jose Los Cabos primarily don't have swimming beaches, the Bonito has a wonderful beach and plenty of sand to walk on all the way to town. Have fun!

Hi, we just got back from Cabo and we had a blast! Yes, it is definitely a party town, but there are also other tours available to a variety of places nearby.
We WERE offered drugs once - and it was from an American! We did not see one prostitute.
It is beautiful and there was nice people. Not all restaurants are over-priced. The Stoplight has the best guacamole. Make sure and check out The Office as well.
The people are very friendly and we had the opportunity to have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with a nice couple from there.
Also, we were not asked about any timeshares at all - even though I was expecting that.

Have fun and don't listen to all of those negative people. Yes, this is an actual tourist. We are from Canada. And I would definitely go back!!!!

The Prostitutes in Cabo do not dress like working girls working the Tenerloin in San Fran.

They dress like shop girl and office girls. Even the Trannys could pass for the girl next door in the Barrio you have to look close for the Adams Apple.
The Strippers don't show up after work in their working Gear. They come down to Squid in a pair of jeans and tank top. In fact the way many of the working girls dress they could pass for a local or tourist. They are there. To many piss tanks can't pick them out but the Johns sure can. They know how the system works. Next to Squid is a small restaurant. Keep your eyes open at the end of a evening and watch what takes place. It is all around you but not overstated like in the States. So are the dealers.

What is worse is Cabo sewage system can't handle the volume. The overflow gurgles out in Cabo's street and the bay is polluted. Same bay that Medano Beach is located on. Only about 45% of population is hooked up the rest are using creek beds, septic or the bucket.
When a storm comes in the water washed everything from the desert down into the bay. The Sewage is arriving unscrubbed on the Golf course. Don't know what it is like to golf on unscrubbed but at least it probably isn't full of chemicals that kill Marine life. There is one pond so dead down by San Jose it only breed Mosquitos.

The Marine life in Sea of Cortez is under assault with Japanese Long Liners fishing out an already depleted stock of big game fish.

Great Article on Fodors on Sea of Cortez the dying sea.
