Buenos Aires -Mother & baby alone

I am planning a trip to Buenos Aires with my husband. However, he will be there on business and working much of the time. I am not a nervous traveller and have been all over the world, often by myself. Originally from NYC, I hate it when people assume that NY is unsafe and they they must constantly watch their backs, so I'm hesitant to ask this question. Given the current economic climate, would I feel safe touring the main parts of BA alone with my 12 month old baby? Thanks for any insight.

I would not be at all concerned. BA is just another big city and I love it. Enjoy!

All in all Buenos Aires is not a dangerous city but safety depends on many factors like the time of the day you tour the city and the places you visit. No one can guarantee absolute security.

Just two comments:
The current economic situation is an improving one.
There is no way that we can tell you how you will feel.

Buenos Aires is full of children. Many plazas to stroll with your baby. Ask the locals, - hotel front desk,- where to go with your baby they will know.

I was there last summer with my 16 year old daughter and let her walk around alone during the day. We all felt very very safe and that was right after the devaluation when things were really touchy. I had to promise my husband not to go near any demonstrations but what he didn't know didn't hurt him any.

Thanks for your help. While before I was undecided about traveling with a baby, I have now definitely decided to go!
