I happen to think, as someone who had a similar chaotic experience with ApartmentsBA in early 2006 that Martin may unintentionally be very smart to "plaster" or "spam" his experience everywhere he can. It is not that we all feel like reading through it again and again, but rather to see if the powers that be will delete his review under the various topics where he has posted.
It is useless to ask anyone who has recently requested information about Apartmentsba on TA to use the search bar, because along with my negative review, and an occasional factual contributions on my part as well as others, when a new negative review comes up, (and they do come up), they magically get "poofed". It will be interesting to see if Mr. Koh has the clout to get every single one of Martin's topics closed and then deleted, and if he can, then TA is no longer objective and plays favorites.
Several weeks ago, there was a complaint about ApartmentsBA and Mr. Koh swore that he would now have a emergency number and a staff member on call. In that post, I recounted our plumbing problem and the fact that we were locked out of our building, with no notification from Apartmentsba that the locks had been changed. That was factual and the whole topic was deleted including the part where Mr. Koh agreed with RicardoBA, a local TA expert, that an emergency contact was definitely needed and established. If I understand Martin's account of his stay, there still is no emergency number and no one on call, except for one employee who was willing to stay later than usual, but then told him to wait until morning because the office was closed.
My experience with Mr. Koh and company has in no way affected my love for Buenos Aires since we are in the process of planning our fifth trip in two years, and will likely purchase an apartment on this next trip. From my vantage point, as someone who works in the hospitality industry in DC, Mr. Koh and his company need to get back to basics and focus on their business model. Not every stay is hassle free, but at his prices, he needs to deliver what his glossy image projects.

Hi all. I posted a detailed response on Trip Advisor.com and I will do so here once I get back to Buenos Aires.
I'm not sure why some of you think I have "clout" in getting threads closed on TA. I've NEVER requested to get a thread closed unless it was false. I've never requested TA to close a thread unless it was false. And even if I asked them, I doubt they would do it just because I asked but for the record, I've never asked them.
Safe travels to all.

Have just had the best experience ever renting a place from www.internationalnest.com Referred by a friend who had nothing but great things to say. Have not yet arrived at the apt but check out the site and you'll see what I mean. Property manager David Merz went out of his way to help - I rented an apt for one week in Palermo ($550/week) and one night each later on at a different apt for $100/night (incl breakfast). I'll post when I get back. Leaving 11/28 for 2 weeks. David M said they turn away more apts then they can count and represent only the best, so I think this is worth checking out.

The weekly apt is just that, an apt with no bkfst (rented the "Thames y Costa Rica" on the site.) Then they rent out lofts or studios in buildings for one night or more and breakfast is included - maybe there's a common room somewhere? Unclear - it's only coffee and croissants but certainly enough to get you moving, and certainly less expensive than a hotel. I'm including links so you can see the studios/lofts for yourself.

My above post of 11/05/2007, 02:42 pm mentions the following URL: http://tinyurl.com/28qnew
If you click on it, you'll find that the thread has been closed to further posts and several posts have been deleted. Of course, it is just a coincidence. LOL!!!!

I just came back from Buenos Aires in January.
Awful apartment and customer service from ByT Argentina. We did not have a working toilet and any bath towels for the first 3 days. ByT did not answer their emergency phone for 2 days (Sat and Sun) and when they picked up the phone on Mon. the toilet didn't get fixed until Tues., which was the last day of our 4 night stay. Based on my experience, if you have any problems with your rental you will be on your own. I DO NOT recommend the apartment (Junin and Av. Las Heras II) or ByT Argentina. Better to find another more reputable agency who will actually screen their properties and provide good customer service. Once they got our money they did not care about what happened.

Wow! Fodor's made it difficult for me to reply just now. I had to find my password first. Anyway, Globetravel, I am sorry to hear about your experience with BytArgentina. I must admit that their e-mail response is terrible. When I tried to ask questions from home, I did not get any replies or if I did, they were not satisfactory. However, once we were in BA, we had a good experience. There was an odd smell in our apartment upon arriving, and the next day, the apartment manager and owners' rep made an appointment to come to the apartment and straighen it out for us. Our apt was a bit dingy, lots of use, I imagine, but it was immaculately maintained. Byt also helped us with taxi arrangements to and from the airport. Again, sorry about your experience, I know nothing is perfect. We felt very good about the whole experience and intend to use them again when we return to BA in March or April 2009.
By the way, AV, we loved BA and can't wait to return. Our only complaint about our trip last july/August which cannot be controlled was the incredibly (and unusually) bitter winter for us Californians. We loved the food, the kind and solicitous people we met everywhere and the wonderful sights. Can't wait to return!

Post Script to Globetravel: Each of Byt's apartments seem to be individually owned, so I think a lot depends on whom you rent it from. Perhaps, the owner of the apt. did not immediately respond to Byt's calls. Who knows? But, I do agree, that BYT does not always do a good job of responding to queries, however in your case with a broken toilet, it really is inexcusable and they needed to make sure that the owner or someone else immediately responded. I hope it did not ruin your trip.
