booking travel outside of BA
Hi,
We will be in BA from Nov. 15-Dec. 2 of this year. We've rented an apt. to act as home base while we travel outside BA. Mostly we are interested in Iguazu Falls and possibly the beach, Punta, etc. Do you recommend we book the travel from here in the U.S. prior to our trip or should we/can we work with someone in BA to perhaps get more "local" pricing? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

Thanks, avrooster. Do you feel we can plan this travel with Isabel while we're in BA or do you recommend that we book with Isabel prior to our arrival? I know we'll be there at a lovely time of year, which inevitably means more people, and I don't want to be too late with our planning.

Tourism is booming in Argentina. Do not wait until you arrive to make travel plans to popular sites such as Iguazua or Punta del Este. You will arrive ahead of vacation time for students, so you will not have to compete with Argentine families for space on flights and in hotels but it is still best to book ahead.

What's more, I beg to disagree with the good drdawggy!
On your travel dates (Nov. 15-Dec. 2, doctor!) you will have absolutely no problem with availability in Punta del Este.
I'm not so sure about Iguazú, but I repeat my previous advice to ask Isabel.

I again beg to disagree with the good drdawggy!! LOL!!!
"If Isabel says to simply wait until you arrive" (which she most likely will NOT do), do as she says, because she knows what she is talking about!

I do not feel Isabel would say do, She is very efficient and polite. And even when in early December there will not be lots of Argentinian families... because most of the argies will be sunbathing in the beach while prepare Christmas with artificial snow... there are lots of american planning to come to Argentina. So, better get in contact with Isabel in time and make sure you will be ok with your schedule.
Warm regards,

i wonder why you think Isabel would say WAIT TILL YOU GET HERE. Everybody, You or Isabel included, knows November is a busy months and though Arg families are not on holidays, it is one of the favourite months for tourists.

I agree with drdawggy.
We had an excellent agent working in Buenos Aires and she got us [in canada] very good travel arrangements.
The sooner you book, the better are your chances of having a better choice.
As far as cost, I believe that the agent will get you better value cost re quality as a local than you would as a gringo. That is for accommodation, not air.
We had very good success with Mercedes at Argentina Escapes. Do not hesitate to contact her.
Good luck

Isabel (Milla): the good dr dawggy did NOT say he thought "Isabel would say WAIT TILL YOU GET HERE".
He said: "IF Isabel says to simply wait until you arrive....", which is NOT the same thing.
