Birthday restaurant in Mexico City

Will be vacationing in Mexico City next week (03/20-3/26) and would love to do something very fun and very Mexican to celebrate my partners birthday. Any ideas or recommendations?

Tnx so much!

Sergey, I answered a lot of you rquestions about Df and Puebla in Feb, when you 1st posted about this trip.

You are staying at the Hotel Maria Isabel (Sheraton), right?

On a recent trip, I finally took everypne's advice and went to Pujols, in Polanco. I can not imagine any better place for a brithday meal. It was stunning, every bite of every dish, and every visualization of the food also. I did the regular menu choices, not the tasting menu. It blew my socks off.

Also, go to San ANgel Inn in Coyoacan for Saturday lunch, MUST make reservations NOW for that and for Pujols, or you will not get in at either place, take this seriously.

That way you get the traditional MX expereince (SAn Angel Inn) and the more modern take on MX food at Pujols.

here is an article about the wonderful Sat. maket in San AAngel. A great thing to combine w/your lunch at the San Angel Inn:

thanks so much.
Is there a fun live music place that you can recommend?
We will probably be in Teotihuacan all day but after we return, some great food and live music can be just what the doctor ordered to celebrate a birthday!

I am usually alone (solo female traveler) in Mexico CIty so I am careful about going out at night aside from an early dinner , and if it is going to be music, it is going to be something like an acoustic guitar player at dinner for me (in particular there is a ittle bar and dinner place across form a hotel I have stayed at several times, the St Francis near Balderas metro, where they always have a small group or guitarist at dinner, that is my speed).

But here is a list of music venue you can browse. Many of them are inside of hotels, which personally would appeal to me, Sicne that is a more secure and predictable environment.

Also, your hotel front desk might beable to help w/ideas on music.
