Best visit to BA on a Budget

We are planning a trip in May 07 to BA for two weeks. Our son is studying in BA this semester and is staying in in the Palermo area - so we would like to be in that general location. There will be three adults (50ish). We would like to concentrate on the best value (not necessarily the cheapest). Any suggestions?

This place is getting a lot of good press. I have never stayed there, so I cannot comment personally...but it certainly looks interesting!

Other hotels in Palermo...
Bobo and HOme are considered very good value for the money.....George W.'s twins stayed at the Home while in BA....

Thank you. Each of these hotels look great. I've sent an inquiry to see if they offer weekly rates. Any restaurant tips?

There is also the option of a short term apt rental.
www.apartmentsba.com can give you an idea of what you can get for a week or two..better prices than hotels ( I think) ..
btw-I get all my advice from drdawggy

If you are staying for a week or longer, apartmentsba.com is a nice option. I have used this agency and the whole process from initial payment to refund of my deposit went very smoothly.

Another apartment option in Palermo: shortstayinba.com The per person cost will be less than in most hotels and the apartment is fantastic! The location is one of the best areas of Palermo.

restaurants....in Palermo that I enjoy....

La Cabrera or La Cabrera Norte Cabrera 5099 Highly recommended for steak
Social Paraiso Honduras 5182
La Parolaccia Casa Tuya (especially for a bargain priced lunch). Juan Maria Guttirrez y Republica de Arabe Siria (on the corner of these two streets).

Palermo is a very trendy area with new restaurants opening weekly...for a list of places recommended by locals...

For less expensive apartments you can also try www.bytargentina.com.

Thanks for all of the helpful hints. Think we will try to go the apartment route. A bit less expensive and we can eat in should we want to do so. Looking forward to the experience.

Day trips....the "Big three" include...a day on a ranch (estancia), Tigre and the Delta islands, and Colonia, Uruguay by ferry.
