Belize excursions

Hello! We're going to Belize at the end of February, staying on Ambergris Caye. There are 4 of us, and we'd like to spend one day on an excursion - ideally, Mayan ruins/rainforest/zip line. Does anyone have suggestions? Our resort doesn't have this particular trip.

I haven't heard of a 1 day trip where you can do all 3 but it may exist. No zipline, but a visit to the Lamanai ruins would include a drive up through the agricultural north, a boat trip up the jungly New River, a visit to the Lamanai ruins, and back - long day. If you haven't already, check out the Belize Forum - someone there will have tour operator ideas if no one here can supply them. Happy trails!

I've not heard of the type of tour you're looking for either.

However, I would second the recommendation for Lamanai. It's a wonderful day, lots of wildlife sightings, awesome ruins, and good rum punch on the way home. Go with Tanisha, they're the best.

You can combine tubing and zip or zip and Xunantunich if you book thru a tour operator. You could do all three if you fly from the island to the mainland, rent a car or hire a private driver to get to and from.

We hired a private guide who took us to Altun Ha back in 2004. It was great and lasted about half a day.

Jaguar Paw caters to those who want to do a lot of activities from one location. It's a long way inland, but very near Xunantunich, and has ziplines and onsite jungle activities.

Thanks so much! I think the zip line and Xunantunich are probably the most important. I'm glad to know we can combine the two!
