Ambergris Caye this Saturday!
Hi all,
We are staying at Mata Rocks for 8 nights. 1-Any especially recommended dive operators (our daughter will need an escort) and 2-trip operators for day trips into the mainland and recommendations about highlighted trips? Thanks, so much.

You're going to have a wonderful time! Belize has been one of our most memorable vacations. We used Ecologic Divers for snorkeling and I did their introduction to diving Scuba course which was wonderful. We went out with them three or maybe four times and I have nothing but praise for their outfit.
I can't really help with tour operators for day trips to the mainland - we split our vacation between the Cayo and Ambergris Caye, so we did our mainland trips while we were already there. But the highlights for the day trips would have to be the ATM cave and ruins. We went to Tikal, which would be really long from Ambergris Caye - but there's the Lamanai Ruins which I would have loved to do had we had more time.
I have a lot of our trip outlined on my blog, www.tripspicsandtales.com the Belize portion is in the September and October entries.
Have a great trip!

I've been to Lamanai twice, both times with Tanisha Tours. Danial Nunez, the owner, and tour guide, is awesome. It's a very long, but very wonderful day. Lots of wildlife sightings on the way, and at the ruins themselves.
My husband dives with Ecologic. No complaints.
We're on the island now, email me if you'd like to meet for a drink. [email protected]

ShellD, I want to see your pics and the link you posted doesn't work! Is it correct? We are going to Belize in Nov. and are going to the same places you did, so I would really love to see your blog. Thanks.

SnR, I just went to it and had no problems - I'll post a fresh link if that makes a difference for any reason!

Belize starts at the very first post in the September archives. Enjoy!

ShellD, I enjoyed your blog very much! Thanks for reposting the link (the first one didn't have 'blogspot' in it) We are looking to stay at a place south of town (Banyan Bay villas or Xanadu) but the Portofino might do well for our daughter's family for when we leave to go to an atoll. It looks fantastic! I appreciate your post on Mexican Rocks because I have read different reviews of it. I like small fish as well as the big guys. I think we will be staying at DuPlooy's instead of Chaa Creek but might stop by there for the butterflies.
