My husband and I are considering a trip to Argentina with our 3-year old twins in the first week of May. I have read that Buenos Aires is very "child-friendly" and many restaurants can offer booster chairs and are tolerant of children, but I am looking for advice on other activities we can plan that our children might also enjoy. In an 8 day stay, would it make sense to visit another city in Argentina? Recommendations?

Maybe Salta would be a quiet, nice town to visit with children, you can take them to teleferifo an while you enjpy of a nice time watching the city, tehy will love teh playgorund there. San MArtin Park is amazing on sundays and evreywhere you can go with kids. No problem, and the weather is perfect everytime.

what about a stay on an estancia, either outside BsAs, or in another region, such as the Salta area? I have read wonderful things about Estancia el Bordo de las Lanzas in that region; not sure if it's a place for young children, but probably worth looking into. check out turismoelbordo.com.ar.

What about Iguazu Falls? I haven't been there, so maybe someone else who has might give you an idea of how comfortable it would be to walk around with young children (in terms of safety of keeping on the walkways). Don't know if you only want cities, though.

Thank you for the great suggestions. We are considering both Iguazu for 2 days and an Estancia as a day trip out of Buenos Aires. Now, we have decided to work with Cintia at WOW to plan the trip. This forum is filled with wonderful resources. We are awaiting Cintia's proposal.

Kate227: I live in Argentina and have 4 children with ages similar to yours. With my husband we love travelling around our country and, in my experience, children have enjoyed much more destinations with animals than those with wonderful sightseeing. Two destinations they really loved and still remember were 1) Peninsula de Valdes where you can watch and get really close to the penguins (at Punta Tombo),the sea lions, the whales (should check first according to the time of the year)2) Esteros del Ibera: there are rides along the Estero where you can take a close look (and safe as well) at caymans, deer, carpinchos, monkeys, etc. Both of them can be done on a 3 days basis. My children didn't enjoy Iguazu much: too much to walk in their opinion and as I said before, the waterfall might be incredible for a grown up but they didn't appreciate it much.
