Apartments in BsAs

We are a family of 3 planning to visit our daughter studying in BsAS in March. Want to stay in a 2 BR, 2 bath apartment with washing machine and internet access and close to the subway in Palermo. There are so many sites to rent from. Anyone have suggestions for which apartment rental site is reliable? close to the subway

We have been here for a month and used http://www.bytargentina.com/.

The pre sales service was great although we have had a few niggles since we have been in the apartment (the swimming pool has been under repair and not available)and BYT have not been responding as I would have like, instead leaving it to the landlord.
The location is excellent at Scalabrini Ortiz & Berruti we are literally 2 mins from the Subte and close to supermarkets. The D line follows Avenida de Santa Fe for much of its distance. I found this interactive map helpful in choosing a location.

My other counsel would be to read the property description very carefully so you can determine EXACTLY what you are getting.

I am arriving in January for a one month stay - also at an apartment at Scalabrini Ortiz & Berruti (Scalabrini Ortiz 2680, 8th floor). I am wondering if it may be the same building as crellston or maybe even the same apartment. No mention was made of the pool being out of order when I confirmed a few weeks ago. The pool was one of the main selling points of the apartment for me. Crellston - would you mind letting me know if it is the same building/apt, do you know when the pool will be fixed and info on any of the other issues that you have had. This will help me so much in case I need to contact the rental agent. Thanks so much.

debbie - It is indeed the same apt on the 8th Floor. We are now back home in London but the pool was not available when we left on 28 Dec and the owner could not find out from the building managers when it would open. I suggest you ask BYT to check and, if the pool is important, get their CATEGORIC assurance that it is in use.

The apartment itself was OK but on balance probably not worth the 1250 pm we paid (we did get a $50 rebate for no pool - not enough IMO).

Other niggles were that the phone was not working and was not fixed for 5/6 days.
The bedlinen was worn and had holes in it. The controls on the oven were broken and the seal on the oven fell off on xmas eve. The towels provided were cut in half to make hand towels. As I said these were niggles, but in my opinion did not represent the best value for money. I did not go up to see teh pool but the owner did say that it was barely big enough to swim in! Indeed the whole apartment did look bigger on the BYT website than in reality (but I guess most do!). That said, Christina the owner responded quickly to our complaints even if some could not be resolved and the apt was in a great location to get to other parts of BA. I cannot judge whether other apartments in the area offered better VFM but we did view several in Puerto Madero (with a view to buying) that were far superior and did have v. nice pools but this may not be the right area for you. I hope this helps a little.

Great advice from Crellston, as usual!

Does this flat have adequate air conditioning, Crellston?

I would suggest, Debbienj, that you TRY (it won't be easy) to get in writing an assurance that the pool is available for your stay, the phone is working, the bedlinen is in good shape, the oven is working adequately and that you will get clean and proper towels.

You have not indicated exactly when you are coming, but it is quite difficult to get ANYTHING done during this holiday period.

Have a great time in our town.

This two bedroom apartment is located in the heart of Palermo--Salguero y Segui--and features central air conditioning, a rarity in Buenos Aires..where individual room units predominate. The subway is about 4 or 5 blocks away on Santa Fe....buses two blocks on Las Heras. This apartment is owned by two New York City realtors....very reliable and professional. I have rented from them many times without a hint of a problem.

Good point avrooster re aircon. It was ok but only ok. drdawgy makes a good point re centralised aircon which would be MUCH better than the individual units.

We rented from ApartmenstBa.com and had a good experience. We rented a 1BR in Recoleta. The apartment was nice (very big) and it had a direct phone line to the U.S. (800 number) (so my parents/work could call us free). and free wifi. The only problems we had were that when we arrived, we got there 15 minutes late and the person wasn't there. Turns out they were in the apt. but the buzzer wasn't working but we waited outside the apt. building for a bit. They also didn't have a hair dryer (and it says they would) but they quickly got us one. And we had a problem with the internet cord-but they were great and had someone out to fix immediately.

We felt safe in the apt. building, but if I were going to do it with a family would pick an apt. with a doorman.
