I am reading that Playa del Carmen is a better choice than either cancun or los cabos, Is it true...more things to do for the kids and beaches less crowded.. someone out there, please help, I have to make the choice

Just returned from Playa del Carmen, I've never been to Cabo. I don't think you're going to find a hotel the caliber of Le Meredien in PDC. There are some wonderful small hotels in town, as well as many all-inclusive resorts all along the Mayan Riviera. I do know the surf can be pretty rough around where Le Meredien is. It was very calm this past week in PDC. I dearly love Playa, but if you're looking for the quality of Le Meredien, perhaps you should stick with Cancun or, hopefully, someone can fill you in regarding Cabo. Jean

I have been to both Cancun and Playa del Carmen and I much prefer PDC. There are fewer crowds and comeercialism in PDC. The Royal Hideaway is the best resort in the area and it is a 15 minute walk from town. The Riu Palace is also very luxurious. You won't be disappointed in either one.

The problem with Royal Hideaway is that they don't take kids. Since Hrithik has a 3 year old, that is not aon option, but I think the Riu may work nicely for him.
Personally, I won't stay at any Riu property as they own and support 'Swim with dolphin' programs, but that's just my hang-up with them.

I love the Costa Alegre on the West coast side. La Manzanilla, Melaque, Barra de Navidad.

THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLIED. I really do appreciate it. We have decided to go to CR and stay at PARADISUS PLAYA CONCHAL at guanacaste. I have questions on that choice so i will have to go to another forum and I did not realise I misspelt advice.
