Cancun/vicinity for 4 moms on a break

Hi,
We are looking for a nice hotel, preferrably an All inclusive in Cancun or one of the nearby resort areas.

We are four 30-40 year old moms, on a well deserved break, no husbands or kids.

We want a beautiful beach and pool, nice bars and restaurants, a good night life, but not spring break crazy. We're looking at November.

Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Marti

Oh, and we prefer a place *not* too family friendly, yet not romantic. We're stay at home moms, with kids aged 1-9, so don't; want to have kids running everywhere.

I'd drop the all-inclusive requirement and get a room or two in either Playa del Carmen or, for really laid back, Isla Mujeres. Food and drink are cheap, great bars, and loads of fun, without the package tourist experience. Jean

Second the notion on going to Playa del Carmen or Isla Mujeres. Or, if you wanted all-inclusive, you could stay in Playacar development on the south side of town. It's on a great beach, the resorts are nice (try Iberostar), and you can walk to the heart of town for shopping, dining, nightlife. Or you can take a taxi for just a few dollars. If you wanted a little more seclusion, you could go to one of the resorts between Cancun and Playa del Carmen - Secrets Capri is great for a girls getaway, nice spa, great pool - and take a taxi to Playa for fun. I'm sure taxis are readily available at the hotel, and they're all over Playa for the ride back. In November, you won't have to worry about the Spring Break vibe anywhere outside Cancun.

Oh, and Secrets is adults-only. Definitely no kids! There are a few other adults-only hotels, like Adventura Spa Palace in Puerto Aventuras, south of Playa del Carmen.

For night life you may want to stay around Cancun although I am not familiar with nightlife in the other areas. If you are "city" people you may prefer Cancun as we do. If not PDC or IM may be great. An AI in Cancun for Adults only is Golden Crown paradise. Great beach but get ocean view rooms!

Great info everyone, we will look into Playa Carmen. If we do settle on Cancun, what do you think of the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach? Does that fit our requirements?

Thanks!

Very nice property right on Punta Cancun near many clubs and restaurants. Probably the busiest part of the hotel zone. Not AI and not on the east facing caribbean side of the island. Sister resort FA Condessa is cheaper but also very nice with some meal packages.

Secrets capri website makes it look pretty romatic, anyone stayed there? Was it all couples?

I can recommend Ceiba del Mar spa and resort in Puerto Morelos (not too far from Cancun's airport, but NOT in Cancun) for a weekend. You can get breakfast and dinner included (or not, if you prefer) -- and that's about all you'll need. There is a spa on site.

If you are slightly more adventurous and willing to take a taxi and THEN a ferry, Isla Mujeres is fantastic. Nabalam is my favorite hotel. Not remotely fancy, but good location near to the main part of town and a great beach for lounging. Not all-inclusive, but handy to food and town.
