My wife and I stayed there for a week last year and had a wonderful time. We are going back in November and taking our two daughters and their husbands. The staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms large, attractive and clean and the bars and restaurants excellent. You can't go wrong with this resort.

Have you been to Secrets Maroma? It's on one of the nicest stretches of beach in the area.
Both are wonderful resorts. YOu can't go wrong with either one.

Here is a link to a thread on another site from people who have been to both resorts and compare them:

I would not trust the Tripadvisor. They are censoring the travel reports. I posted a hotel review and since they did not like it they did not post it.

The Valentin Imperial Maya is gorgeous!!! What I think the main difference is, Secrets is brand new and therefore a lot of foliage has not grown to full size, so it isn't as much of a tropical lush foliage as Valentin, which is only a year older. Valentin is amazing...spent my 2nd anniversary there. No swim ups but that is about all it's missing.

I haven't been to Secrets Maroma, but we went to Valentin Imperial shortly after they opened and it is a beautiful resort. The food is good and there's a great selection. The pools are big and it has a decent beach. We spent most of the time at the pool, but from what I remember the beach was one of the better ones in the area. I would definitely go back!

Secrets Maroma does have one of the top 10 beaches in the World, but at Valentin they have the widest beach I've seen at an all inclusive. Tons of chairs and palapas!
