On our last trip we spent our last night joining a group of people that we had met while visiting. Started with drinks at a local bar everyone gathering outside, band playing jazz, my husband requesting his favorites and buying rounds for friends. "You know Jack Daniels?" Funny as we are not big drinkers. Finally went for dinner around 11. They insisted that we have champagne at midnight...stating it was a Paris tradition. Made it back to our room around 3 am. Had to get up at 6 for a morning flight home. Wouldn't have slept through that night for anything. Life is all about the people you meet along the way. Make your last night a night to remember.

hi davemm,
i'm envious of your upcoming trip!
for both 'last nights' in 2008 and 2009 ...DH and I spend a couple of hours in the afternoon packing up and then go for a leisurely dinner and then a stroll afterwards ... we normally walk along the seine, cross @ pont des arts, sit on the bridge and listen to whatever musicians happen to be there that evening, wind our way to the louvre (all lit up at night) and then back to our hotel. evenings in paris are really magical and you don't have to do anything 'special' except just be there to experience it! enjoy!

lilaki,
Thanks so much for sharing you experience. Some of our best memories over the last 30 years have been those simple ones. I can't wait to add some wonderful memories in Paris.
I am an early morning person and I can't wait to take my early run. I love mornings anywhere.
