Hello Dottie,
We have recently returned from a trip to Rome staying at the Hotel Genio listed on the Fodors hotel list under Old Rome. Have a look at my rant and rave about it. I cant help you with the price but the location I'm sure would suit. Good luck to the bride and groom.

You know what I always recommend...
The Hotel Due Torri! Friendly, convenient, quiet, etc. Check what others have to say by using the search. I also have pics of it (plus other Rome stuff) on my websight...

Not trying to criticize, but a hotel cannot be near both the Spanish Steps and the Piazza Navona. They are a considerable distance apart, and the best location to reach both is to stay halfway between, which is somewhere around the Trevi Fountain or Pantheon. Near the Pantheon is the highly recommended Santa Chiara, which you might want to check out. Near Trevi is the Hotel Fontana, newly renovated and very nice.

My husband and I just stayed at Residenza San Pantaleo which is by Piazza Navona. We loved the location. Room was $99 per night but we got a discount for paying in cash. Breakfast was included. Their website is www.residenzasanpantaleo.com. We would stay there again. It is also near a great restaurant called Cul de Sac which I highly recommend.

When you link to the Hotel Due Torri listed in Richard's post earlier, please note that they have a "sister" hotel, called Hotel Fontanella Borghese. The link is http://www.fontanellaborghese.com/. It is located in a fabulous shopping area, 10-15 minutes from both Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. In your price range, great service and location. It is the same owner. I stayed there for a week this Easter and loved it. Have fun!

Hotel barberini at Piazza Barberini is Superb! It is an apartment like setting with only 6-7 rooms, but truly amazing. We paid 600000 lire for 3 people in OCt 2000.
DO NOT STAY at Hotel Raineri. It is crummy! we checked out the next morning and luckily found Barberini.

I've only stayed in two: the Pensione Panda, near the Spanish Steps and the Hotel Primavera, near Piazza Navona. The Panda, considering its location on the wonderful Via della Croce, is a great value, but our room was one of the smallest I've ever had in Europe (though it was spotlessly clean.) The Primavera is also a great value -- more expensive but with a larger room and a wonderful family who runs it -- and I preferred the location, feeling like I was more in the "heart" of Rome.
