York hotels
Hi everyone,
My wife and I will be in york in May 2006 where she is attending a conference at the Minster. We are looking for suggestions for either a hotel or a B&B that is close to the Minster that is not too expensive.
Thanks
Jerry

I recommend the White Horse - it's a 4 bedroom B&B over a pub on Bootham, just a few blocks from the Minster. My mom and I styed there in 2003 and our only regret was not having longer to stay. It is charming, reasonably priced, includes full English breakfast, and the proprietors are friendly and helpful. They also have a place on the other side of town called the Light Horseman. I found the White Horse on Smoothhound.com. Depite the fact the rooms are over a lively pub, we never heard any noise from it. Plus there is a lovely dog named Robbie in residence, no extra charge for petting him.

We've stayed at Dean Court a few times..but it has ben several years ago. A friend recently stayed at the Four Seasons B&B and was most complimentary. You should be able to goof=gle it. Or try to read the trip report on EZboard..Europe to go

I stayed at the City Guest House in May 2005. It was basic and decent, inexpensive, and 3 minutes away from Monkgate. There was an excellent Indian restaurant a couple of doors down. Here's the URL: http://www.cityguesthouse.co.uk/. The family that runs it was very nice, and they had an old and very fat basset hound.
