Will someone tell me about Logis de France, especially for hikers?

I just got a guide from them, and they look interesting. I wonder if anyone has ever used the luggage transfer service they promise to hikers. Costs? Is it reliable in tiny villages? Thanks for the help, we are still "arguing" about where to go next year.

Very interesting question; I hope that someone can answer. I have enjoyed stays in numerous Logis de France properties, but I don't know anything about this service.

Topping you, if nothing else...

Best wishes,

Rex

The pre-arranged walking plans look interesting, though limited in range, and good value by comparison with their UK equivalents. But I'd like to know if there's any feedback.

Can only attest to othe over-all quality of the Logis de France (used ** and ***) but can't help you with the "hikers" part. Wish I could.

I'm not so much interested in the hikes they offer (too short) as I was in perhaps doing my own route perhaps in the Luberon or along the Stevenson trail. There are many hiking logis along that route. It says on their website that luggage transfer help is one of the features of those places. Does that mean they take it at the desk, or tell you what to do, etc? This service was provided for us last year by a tourism office in Switzerland and it was GREAT. We had freedom to hike and sightsee all day and our luggage waited in room at next destination.

I'd assume it means they'll arrange luggage transfer with a local transport firm - at a price, no doubt.

I have no problem paying for it. It beats us trying to drive or renting a donkey. Horrors!
