Mind you, there're a lot of stories re haunted hotels in Asia. Practically every hotel has a resident spook; courtesy of all those demolished cemeteries. Anyway, just recently I told one acquaintance from Taipei that I will be staying at Hotel A (which shall remain thus named to prevent any legal repercussions) for a whole week and she immediately told me stories of the resident spook. Let me tell you that I wasn't amused, not a bit especially when I travel solo 98% of the time. Since that particular hotel is a 5-star and has over 600 rooms, I just quipped that the spook must be 'dead' tired from working the rooms!

I would love to meet a ghost! especially if we could have a conversation!

Some years ago when my Mom was alive, she was in a laundromat in the early evening alone. A man came in and she suddenly became fearful. He looked up to no good and she had no idea what to do. The door opened and another man entered with ONE towel. The second man put the ONE towel into a washing machine and sat down to wait as the one towel went thru a complete cycle in the washer AND dryer. The first man turned and left the laundromat. My Mom finished her laundry in peace and quickly went home. I've always thought that that second man was my Mother's guardian angel. There is a scripture in the Bible that says "we sometimes entertain angels unaware"
So, I guess if there are angels, there could be ghosts.

By the way, here's a cross reference to the thread on the US board regarding ghost tours and such:

Melissa-I have to say, after reading that US thread, there are some genuinely creepy experiences people have had, including your own ghostly experiences!

I do think that there is something of a paranormal nature going on in certain areas and ruins of England-I've had friends who have had very frightening encounters in Exmoor National Park, a place that is apparently well-known for such things.

>>But to say they don't exist simply because someone doesn't believe in them...<<

beachbum, when I say "I don't believe in ghosts" I mean "I believe ghosts do not exist." But I have no problem with your believing they exist.

That said, I LOVE scary books (Salem's Lot), scary movies (the original "The Haunting&quot, psychological twists (The Others was great!), and scary places!

Anyone here old enough to remember "The Blob" with Steve McQueen?

I have to say I'm quite amazed at some of the responses on that thread.

If you're so inclined, I'd love to hear more about your friends' experiences at Exmoor National Park.

>>People used to talk about getting phone calls from the dead, but that seems to have stopped since people started getting call display and *69 access.<<

WillTravel, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that or it would have been through the nose!

Well, Caph, since you asked....there are many tales in this area (Exmoor) of not just apparitions, but apparently a true sensing of evil being afoot- headless things, among other assorted phenomena, that have been seen and experienced-and talked about- for generations. My friend was at Exeter University studying in the 80s, and one night he and 3 friends decided to go to Exmoor just to check it out, basically. They were in some part of the park, late at night, when suddenly, my friend told me that all the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, as did the hairs on his arm. Something passed through him that was, as he described it, pure evil-it was terrifying to him-and "it" somehow communicated the idea that he should not be here, in this park, in this place-ever. It then passed, and he was frozen with fear-his friends did not experience this and were wondering why he was just sort of shocked and silent-and of course he just said they needed to get the hell out of there immediately, which they did.

To this day, he cannot so much as see something like a tarot card in a window, without passing to the other side of the street-forget any type of scary movie or palm reading-he wouldn't even think of it. (and I love scary movies about the supernatural-one of my favorite movies is the original "Omen&quot

And you know, knowing him as I do, of anyone I could think of who might be "sensitive" to some paranormal activity, it would be him, and I do think there are people like that in this world, and they are probably right to be careful to stay away from things that may attract paranormal phenomena.

Thank you for sharing that, Girlspytravel! Very eerie indeed! And, now, since I'm home alone this evening, I think I will leave this thread!

I was staying on summer with friends in Liverpool who invited me to join them with friends at a haunted mansion where a celebration ws taking place. I offered to stay in the room that ws supposedly haunted and lay awake waiting but no one showed up I'd like to know if there are ghosts, so I can plan my afterlife to haunt a few
