There are literally more than 1,000 posts on the OP's various threads. It is sort of hard to keep track w/o a scorecard. The Mom is replacing the DH for part of this trek.

Holy cow, I am way to invested in this.. but since I'm already neck deep:

She was still, even at that point, after said drama, going to be arriving in London on January 10th and staying til the 17th. She then went on to (later down the thread) say that everything else was booked.

On March 26th she wrote "my apartment for london is sorted, my apartment for Paris is sorted and I have also booked in my stay at Lucca for 4 days!" and on May 7th, "but this is what we have done and booked so no need to comment on alternatives."

So, my question, still - is how did everything (accommodations/train tix/plane tix, etc) for the whole family get changed/rearranged so quickly? And more interestingly, without a word until yesterday..

If she's not flying until a week later, and she is STILL flying into London, doesn't everything get pushed a week or something get cut out?

Yikes, I had to push a trip a meager two DAYS once, and it was madness!

Am I missing something?

THIS thread starts out, on Mar 22nd,

Perhaps we are the ones who have been taken for the ride on this 'interesting' trip. There does seem to be a date discrepancy, but it's probably all hahaha fine.

Great points Doppio. If everything was booked as she said on this thread, and others - even the trains and ferry - how was it all changed, and without a peep or a whole new "Plans have changed again! Help!" type thread from her. I'm confused!

She couldn't even make a smallest decision without consulting the board and starting multiple threads, and now, what looks to be the biggest change of all, and it seems to have been so effortless that it only warrants a simple, matter of fact "Plans have changed and I don't get there until the 21st of June." - and then goes on to ask about Pearl Assist at LHR.

After skimming this thread and her orher most recents, seriously, I really want to know how someone can change that many flights, hotels, car rentals, ferries, apartments, and tours. I'd understand if she simply cut out London, and ended up starting the trip from the second city on the itinerary. Then all of the other reservations could stay the same and only the first flight would have to be changed. All those posts about finding a place in London, Paris, Barcelona, etc. and at the last minute it gets pushed a week and it all goes off without a hitch? For June and August? The hotels and apartments were all magically able to accommodate her and rhe kids and in some instances her mom and husband a week later?

I also find it interesting that doppio asked her up thread what her itinerary was including the exact dates, and she never answered.

Mind boggling.

I love coming back and seeing so many of you question what is going on and even think I am not going!

Perhaps I didn't share the drama out of fear of knowing how it would be received. But here is how I made it work. London became a week ...we cut out mum with niece and varenna and have just now done the week in uzes and then the 10 plus days in Paris ...so mum lost a week in her travels and we couldn't do parts that we were going to do. Once hubby arrives the plans are still as is . . the week travelling south of france, Barcelona, Lucca, Varenna, night in Milan, Prague, Berlin, Frankfurt that all stayed the same.

A always I assure you that this trip is going ahead and everything has fallen into place because of all of you who have invested your time in guiding me.

The reason I am not on here so much is because the planning is sorted and now it's just about fine tuning what we would like to do when we are there etc but again that is where my flexibility is because of the kids etc.

Mum with niece? But like some of you, I am amazed how blithely and easily these changes, so hard in the original to even make, seem to have happened. And for a summer trip. Change fees? Lost deposits? Not a problem, apparently. Onward.

opps yes TYPO! I meant Nice . . .As I said nothing had been booked with mum and that was what my whole stress was about so it had been a blessing in disguise. Once the date changed everything got booked and paid for with her and like I said nothing had changed with hubby.

When did it happen and how did you change your bookings so easily? Not being snarky, I really want to know.

my mum owns her company and had a drama to do with that so we were just thankful nothing besides the flights had been booked with her . . the major expense . . besides changing flights .. was London . .for what we wanted to are paying a fair bit more then ideal but because of a week less travelled we figure it'll balance out. The company French Cottages is amazing and they helped a lot with France. And then in Paris we are swapping from the apartment to Disney towards the end since they couldn't fit us in for the full week . .but they gave us a really great price because of the fact that we fit in between two bookings.

I was sooo stressed out but it all got sorted within 48hrs ..after the first issue with hubby and work I just couldn't bear to dwell and ponder on what to do so thankfully cathies got me motivated to just get it all locked in!

I was tempted to call on travel insurance and just can the trip but I just had put so much time into it that I have just wanted to make it work and well .. here we are!
