Which hotels in Nice?

I am trying to decide where to stay in Nice. I want a budget hotel under $60. Anyone have experience at these: Hotel Flots d'Azur, Star Hotel, Comte de Nice or Hotel Floride. Thanks for your help.

Bookchick: Is it within walking distance of most things? Can you tell me about the rooms, I will be solo and looking for a single room. Do most rooms have a view of the water. Any recommendations of restaurants?

Hi Barb,
Not all rooms have a view of the water, but you can certainly request one. (We had one & it was divine!) I was in a double room, and it had an ensuite bathroom, with both tub & shower (but no shower curtain, as is so often the case in Europe). It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't exactly spartan either, and I thought it was fine.

I found the location very walkable, but I did quite a bit of walking anyway back in those days.

There are a number of good restaurants. La Zucca Magica, L'Univers, and L'Escalinada are my top 3 picks--great food, good service, and good prices.

BC

Thanks for your response. It does look pretty nice from the web page.

I stayed at the Nouvel Hotel, which is only a few blocks from the beach. The price was great and the rooms were pretty spacious.

Based on these comments, we have contacted the Flots d'Azur and the rates are reasonable for an early April stay (70 euros on water and 50 off).
Question: are the rooms facing the water very noisy because of the major street between the hotel and ocean? Do you recall the parking cost for the hotel?
Thanks.

When I emailed the Flots d'Azur,I was told they were not accepting any reservations until May. Makes me a little nervous waiting until May for a Sept. reservation. Has anyone heard of Hotel Le Clemenceau?
