I enjoyed dinner at La Pergola - ravioli in lemon cream and mussels in white wine. BTW, you might be interested in the Capri part of my trip report - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35123298

Since I said in my post that the "Weber" was recommended by 2 of our friends, but that we haven't been there yet, I'll be looking for your post when you return.
BTW, when are you going?
If we go it will be in Sept.

If I may tag on a question. I looked at Hotel Weber on tripadvisor. It seemed great, except it's not in either town. Has anyone stayed there who can comment on how easy it is to take the bus into town? We will be going at the end of June.
BTW, looked at your photos sherhatfield. They are awesome!

I stayed at Weber Ambassador twice, it's a good hotel in a beautiful setting. It's only a short bus ride into town. If I remember correctly, at the bottom of the hotel's walkway is where guests wait for the hotel shuttle to take them into town or to Marina Grande... further down from there (not a far walk), is an area (above Marina Piccola) where buses drop off and pick up people for different routes.

I was considering the Aiano but they seem out of the way?
It also sounds like the funicular is the best way to leave the Marina Grande but do they allow luggage inside? I'm going about 35 days from now.
If so, it appears staying in Capri, near the Pizzetta, would be the most convenient location?
Anyone stay at the Gatto Bianco?

I've never taken the funicular myself, I usually get a taxi or hotel shuttle... if you use the funicular, I believe you need to give your bags to the baggage service at the port (Marina Grande), there is a fee per bag. They then take your bags directly to the hotel you're staying at.
I'll be staying in May near the Piazzetta. Being close to it is convenient but when I was at the Weber, I didn't mind being away from the town. Ana Capri is also a nice area to be at.

We stayed at The Weber a couple of years ago in June. I agree that it a pleasant hotel with a superb view, although you are of course down the cliffs near the water. We caught both the hotel shuttle and the local bus without any problems. Once you are away from the main areas, Capri is amazingly untouristy with some beautifully scenic walks. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Even saw Donatella Versace whilst we were having coffee. The shops are great, if you can afford them! We had a lovely dinner with a knockout view at Da Gemma, Via Madre Serafina. Enjoy!

I think the porter service for the luggage is separate.
I've heard that as long as there's room, it shouldn't be an issue taking it up yourself.
I guess with some fancy hotels, some visitors are used to full-service, rather than lugging their stuff by themselves.
