Where to stay in Berlin?
We'll be disembarking from a Danube cruise in Nuremberg on March 25 and have about four days to spend in Germany before flying back to LHR to pick up our transatlantic flight. Our current plan calls for us to fly from NUE into Berlin to explore that city. Suggestions for the appropriate area in which to base ourselves would be appreciated. Specific hotel suggestions also welcome. We hope to keep the hotel bill under $150 a night if possible.
We are amenable to suggestions for another German city as long as it can be reached by a non-stop flight from Nuremberg and has non-stop access to LHR. The only German cities in which we have spent any appreciable time are Hamburg and Travemunde.

I agree with Danon. Don't have any specific rec since the only hotel I have stayed at is the Weston Grand and think it is more. There have been plenty of discussions on hotels in Berlin so
put 'Berlin hotels' in the search box and you will have lots of information. Have fun. It is a great city and easy to navigate. CJ

a few years ago we went to Berlin, and stayed in Mitte, near the canals. it was a very quiet district but reasonably close to the centre.
we got a great deal on a hotel on www.hotels.de which i think may now be hotels.com.

Just an update: We stayed at the Melia Hotel March 26, 27 and 28 and were offered an upgrade to the concierge level for the price of a breakfast. It was worth it. The service was impeccable and the location couldn't be beat. We walked to the museums and the Brandenburg Gate and had a view of the river from our window that enticed us -- even after a week of Danube cruising -- to take a riverboat journey one afternoon.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I hjave stayed at the Circus Hotel, within your price range and a good "Mitte" loaction. No frills hotel, but run by very friendly and helpul people. Good restaurant. Subway station right in front of hotel, 2 stops to Alexanderplaz. Within walking distance to Museums Insel. Look it up on the Internet.
