where should we go?

HI all,

Need some help choosing places to go to? We are planning a 10 day trip ( September 1st weeks). We would like to go to 3 places..I have heard Prague is a definite see. What do you guys think of Salzberg, Budapest, or Vienna. Or if you have any other recommendations of good places, that would be helpful too.
Some information about us: 31 years old, 2 to 3 couples. Enjoy sight seeing, eating good food and seeing good night life (lounges).

Please let me know. Any information would be helpful..

Thank you,

Alseniore

Do the 10 days include travel days? If yes, then you're pretty much down to 8.5 days. I'd stick with 2 destinations at most.

I haven't been to Prague yet, but have been to the other 3 you mentioned. Not sure how you plan to go to any of the other cities, but a reality check:

Prague -> Vienna is 4 hours by train
Prague -> Budapest is 7 hours by train
Prague -> Salzburg is 6.5 hours by train

You pretty much lose a whole day.

My suggestion is either Prague + Vienna; or Prague + Berlin (4:40 hours by train).

Oh, if you choose Berlin over Vienna, it's probably worthwhile to stop at Dresden for at least a day/overnight.

HI Thanks for the above info. Sorry not to mention, but 10 days does include travel time too. We are planning to stay in every place for 2 days or so. Thats how we were thinking of doing 3 places.
I have heard from many people that Vienna is good too. So we are leaning towards it. But any other suggestions of places that are close to Prague are also welcome.
Is driving to these places an option at all?

Thanks

With only 8+ days, if you really want to see 3 cities I'd visit Prague (3 days), Vienna (3 days) and Salzburg (2). That's somewhat of a circle with Budapest being a little out of the way. All 3 are wonderful with plenty to keep you occupied.

IMO I wouldn't drive. You won't need or want the car in the cities and you'd likely have heavy drop-off fee if you didn't return it to original location (and with your schedule I'd limit doubling back). Trains are easy.

And you might want to consider open jaw: fly into Prague and out of Munich, which is a short trip from Salzburg.

Based on what you're looking for I would do Prague plus Berlin. both are younger, hipper (than Vienna) and have a ton of sights (much bigger than Salzburg).
