Hello. I don't have an answer to your question, rather a question for you to answer. I am also going to be in Italy with three other girls (we're in our 20's and 30's) and we're looking for some suggestions of places to visit, hotels to stay in. We have rented an apartment in Florence for 5 weeks and plan on taking long weekends. We would like to find a town with good nightlife and a nice beach. We are willing to travel. Do you have any suggestions from your past trip. Also, please keep me posted on your new search. THANKS!

How about Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi?

Marina di Pietrasanta ( unbelievable beaches and cute town...though I'm not so sure about the bar scene ) or Forte di Marmi, about 20 minutes north of Pietrasanta.

The beach from Ravenna to Ancona, but especially around the Rimini/Riccione area, is lined with discos and clubs. Young people from all over the Marche and Umbria drive over in the evening for the nightlife. The beach is wide and sandy. However, if you are going the third week of May, that is very early beach season by Italian standards and you may find the water a bit too cold and not all the restaurants, bars and clubs open yet. Later in the season (July, August) many Roman nightclubs open their beach locations anywhere from Ostia Lido down to Formia, with especially nice beaches between San Felice di Circeo ad Gaeta.
